Shayla began working at the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center in 2025 as an advocate. In this position, Shayla also establishes and builds relationships with schools, educational programs, and community partners. Shayla is passionate about educating the youth, building community, mental health, the LGBTQIA+ community, and providing a safe space for everyone. Shayla has previous experience as a child case manager for mental health and a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University, where she majored in criminal justice and minored in psychology, sociology, and women’s studies.
When Shayla is not at WASAC, she is spending time with her community, hanging out with friends and family, attending concerts, watching YouTube, or napping.
